Sports Bras Size Guide

  WHY WEAR A SPORTS BRA?

The breasts are composed of mainly fatty tissue with the mammary glands and muscle. The muscle is deep so it cannot help much in supporting the breast. Coopers Ligaments help hold the breasts up, these are thin bands interwoven into the breasts and are not very strong. If the breasts are not supported properly during exercise, then repetitive bouncing can stretch the Coopers Ligaments permanently.

Investment in a quality sports bra such as PureLime’s can reduce movement by as much as 75%, resulting in a more comfortable workout, ultimately stopping stretch and helping to reduce sagging and pain.

  Bra Measuring Instructions

In order to fit a bra properly it is essential to choose the right size. Research shows that up to 70% of all women have the wrong bra size. A poorly fitted bra is often the reason why many women have backaches and ultimately sagging on their breasts.

To work out your correct bra size, you need two dimensions:

  1. The measurement around the bust
  2. The measurement under your bust

It is the difference between these measurements in centimeters which determine a women’s cup size.

For best result, use a standard dressmaker’s tape measure and have someone else measure you.

Should your measurements result in “between sizes”, purchase the larger size bra.

For US/UK:

  1. Band Measurement
Take a snug measurement around your rib cage, under your bust and then add 5”. For example 29”+ 5” = 34” (between size, go up to 34”)
  2. Bust Measurement
Without wearing any clothing except for a bra, take a loose measurement around the fullest part of your bust and then add 5”. For example 36” + 5” = 41” 3.
  3. Determine your Cup Size
Subtract your Band Measurement (from Step 1) from your Bust Measurement (from step 2). For example 41” - 34” = 7”
Now use the chart below to determine your Cup size. For example 7” = B Cup (US) and C Cup (UK)

NB: Measurements in Inches

SIZE CHART: BRAS, BRA TOPS, BUSTIERS, CORSETS (inches)
  1. Find your Under Breast Measurement (measuring under the breast) in the first column - this measurement will determine the 'back size' of your bra.
  2. Follow the line from left to right to the light grey section and you will find your back size.
  3. Follow this line to the far right section. Find which measurement range corresponds to your total breast circumference (measured around the fullest part of your chest) - now you know your cup size (B, C, D etc).
